I would love to tell you that I wake up in the morning, run a hand through my hair and it’s shiny and lustrous all day long….but I can’t. If there were ASBO’s for hair, then mine would have them all…badly behaved, dry, split ends, frizzy and HAS to be washed every other day. If you’ve read previous blogs then you also know I have three children (5 months, 2 and 4) so mornings are MANIC in our household and there’s no time for taming hair.
So when TRESemme sent me a HUGE box of goodies from their new Naturals range I was very excited, especially with the products from the Instant Refresh range because they looked like they could soon become my new best friends when it comes to the school run.
Now some Mums will shove on some clothes and not worry about hair and make-up until they get home but I’ll let you in to a little secret…I’m too vain! I want hair that looks and feels good but doesn’t take me long to achieve, so a product that can buy me an extra day or more before I have to wash my hair is an absolute winner.
To really road test these products I’m going to see how they perform on my average manic mornings. I’ll do two reviews, one on a morning when I wash my hair with the TRESemme Naturals Shampoo and Conditioner and use Weightless Volumising Mousse. The second review will be two days later using the TRESemme Instant Refresh Waterless Foam Shampoo products and the Naturals Non Aerosol Hairspray.
The Great Escape Day 1.
6:15am Henry wakes up and wants milk
6:30am Alarm goes off. Daisy and Oscar wake up, jump on bed, proceed to turn lights on and off!
6:31 Swiftly exit bedroom for sanctuary of shower. Wash hair using TRESemme Naturals Moisture Shampoo (£5.39 for 900ml). It lathers up just the right amount, is easy to wash out, smells fresh and doesn’t leave my hair feeling squeaky. I then use the TRESemme Naturals Smooth Conditioner (£5.39 for 900ml) and leave on whilst I enjoy the peace. It’s great that these come in such enormous bottles as they last for weeks (which is just as well, you never know when you might get snowed in!) and because my hair is long and thick, I can put a good amount of conditioner on to cover right to the tips6:36 Peace is disturbed by the entrance of Oscar who tries to climb in shower. I wash off the conditioner with cold water for extra shine and am pleased with how soft my hair feels.
6:40 Oscar hands me my towels (bless him) and I go back to my room and get dressed.
6:45 I Brush hair and squirt out a ball of TRESemme Naturals Weightless Volumising Mousse (£5.39) and apply to my roots. I then blow dry my hair upside down until nearly dry and then tip up the right way, drying the hair down the hair shaft with a flat brush for extra shine.
6:55 Hair looks big, fab and ready for the day…time for a coffee.
I was very impressed with the Shampoo and Conditioner as it left my hair looking shiny and soft. My hair is thick and can look frizzy. The mousse gave my hair volume at the roots, yet it also looked smooth at the tips which was great. It’s unusual for me not to have to use straighteners or curlers to style it but I left it this time as I thought it already looked good.
The Great Escape Day 3.
6:30am Alarm goes off. Phil gets up. I stay in bed…lovely!
6:50am Children come in bedroom, jump on bed.
6:51am I get up, brush hair and am horrified with how unclean it looks. Would never normally contemplate leaving the house with 2 day old hair.
6:53am I use TRESemme Salon Professional Hot Hair Rollers and leave in until it’s time to leave the house. They take around 5 minutes to put in. I go in search of coffee and cereal.
8:15 After dressing, washing and feeding the children as well as making lunch boxes and getting book bags ready, I remove the heated rollers and spray with TRESemme Naturals Non Aerosol Hairspray(£5.39) . It holds my style and my hair looks great…not greasy at all.
This has been a revelation as NEVER before (apart from when I had flu at University which Deafinitely Girly will vouch for) have I left my hair for 3 days without washing it. The Instant Refresh really does get a thumbs up from me. I’ve used dry shampoo before but these products are fantastic and you really do get that just washed feel.
The TRESemme Naturals range aims to give naturally beautiful hair using organic and hypoallergenic ingredients. For me, this is great because I’m currently breastfeeding, but even better than this is the fact that these products are formulated without the use of Parabens and silicone and are low in Sulphates. Some research has suggested that parabens could possibly pass through in to breast milk so I feel happier knowing that these products are paraben free.
This range is great and really has helped me save time in the morning as well as giving me shinier, more manageable hair. I would recommend it to everyone especially busy Mums like me so venture out in the snow this week and bag yourself a bargain at Superdrug. The Naturals and Instant Refresh range are all on 2 for £6 until January 4th 2011 so look Tres Chic with TRESemme this Christmas and New Year.
Lots of Love,
