Summer is definitely when I want to be making the least effort with my locks (styling wise, conditioning wise it needs a little extra!) So I was delighted when Superdrug sent us some goodies from the new Fudge Urban Collection. I received the Sea Salt Spray and the Messy Stuff blow dry Creme. First impressions were of the packaging as it certainly is eyecatching, these babies will have NO problem standing out from a crowded shelf. The loud orange screams summer at me and actually made me feel really bright, these products had won me over from the outset!
Next test was smell , I find with hair stuff I am looking for a nice fresh smell, noticeable but not too overpowering- I am happy to report these smell amazing, the coconut of the Sea salt spray is right up my street and the blow dry creme has a sort of fruity smell to it, neither too sickly sweet but just right. Most importantly of course is how did these products perform…
Sea Salt spray- Texturising spray for raw ‘beach hair’
The bottle has a handy no drip nozzle cover which I find made the process mess and fuss free and makes it easy to throw in the bag for beach waves on the move! The spray goes on easily as the product comes out in a nice fine mist which falls evenly over the hair meaning so no areas get too much and end up feeling stick! This is the kind of hairstyle I love the most, I think it is perfect for summer and looks amazing on anybody. To take it to the next level if you have super straight hair you can do what i did: I washed hair at night, sprayed in my sea salt spray, scrunched it through my hair and then put in two loose pigtails. By the time morning came I just took them out, ran my fingers through the hair and I was leftwith amazing beach waves that lasted me all day. This stuff can also be used on dry hair to instantly give that rough, no fuss texture that beach waves give, just spray in, scrunch and go!
I have never been that sure how to really work with creams in my hair, as my hair gets greasy really quicky I have always skipped any heavy looking product- so trying this out was a real experiment! Although I think I need a bit more practice this stuff is really easy to work in and doesnt feel heavy at all, I dried my hair off a bit and then worked in a little amount of the creme ( warming it up in my hands first) and then finished off the blow dry.
It definately gave my hair a lot more texture and more of a messed up look to it. I love how it is packaged, I find pump bottles for this kind of thing distribute too much product but with this you can take just what you need and it leaves you with a really natural and sexy looking ‘do’. You can get Fudges Urban Collection exclusive to Superdrug and right now there is £2 off the products-bargain!
Now it wasn’t just Fudge saving my hair just in time for this summer, I was also sent Tresemme’s latest offering- 24 hour Body Sky High Plumping Powder. Now the one thing I am always after with my hair is volume, I love it! Sexy big hair is totally for me so anything that claims to help must be tried I have used a couple of products similar to this in the past and usually they have come with a pretty heft price tag so I was over the moon to discover this stuff does exactly the same job for a snippet of the price.
What I also love is how the product comes out, the single hole opening means you can directly distribute the product to your roots or on your fingers and then work in. I usually lift up the top layer of my hair, sprinkle a little of this in to the roots and then use my fingers to literally kind of rub it in to the scalp, as you rub in volume that looks almost backcombed appears out of nowhere! Now the one thing to note with this is the tiny little flakes when rubbed turn to like a waxy type feel so you definitely do not want to overdo it or you will get your hands stuck in there! Here is my with just a tiny amount of the powder worked in, my hair was even bigger after I rubbed it in further:
And there is more- yup I was in my local Superdrug tonight overdosing on toiletries for my upcoming trip to Berlin when the girl at the till popped a leaflet in my bag that has got me all a flutter- why you might be asking……
