The search for the ever lasting lip colour continues, this time it’s Max Factor lipfinity lasting lip tint that is under the microscope.

First a little gripe….what is it about make up packaging nowadays? It took me ten minutes, three broken nails, a pair of scissors, a knife and then the help of a thirteen year old daughter to open one of these lip tints thanks to the plastic security packaging on them. I’m all for hygiene but there was a lot of plastic.

Anyway, I was sent five colours by Superdrug to try out. Two were shades of pink, one red, one brown and one on the peach colour chart which is a perfect colour for spring. Yes, spring has at last arrived so I love using peachy tones for blush and lipsticks.

The lip tints are applied with tips that are similar to a thin marker pen or highlighter and I found that they were a little bit too thick, it felt as though I was colouring in my lips with a pen which felt a little odd. I suppose it’s something to get used to, I can see the benefits for precision application but maybe a little thinner would have been preferable to me. However this does give a nice sculptured and neat look to the lips and there is no need to use a lip liner either. Once dry there is no stickiness and my lips felt moisturised. I found the definition around the lips really did last a long time however the lip colour not quite so long.

There is definitely no need to worry about transferring this lip tint to while drinking or eating and it certainly won’t smudge while having a little smooch! The lip tints cost £7.99 from Superdrug.

Lip tints have really won me over. A year or so ago I wasn’t fussed either way but after realizing just how versatile they are I’ve left my lipsticks heartbroken as I’ve truly done a runner with the lip tints.

Maxfactor have come out with a variety of Lipfinity Lasting Lip Tints and they are some of the best I’ve found in the market place. They may not be the cheapest coming in at a mid range price point of £7.99 but the applicator which is shaped like a felt tip pen is definitely one of the easiest and most convenient to use. I’ve used the pen while on the run, literally; I was late from lunch getting into the office and out came my lip tint, I dabbed a bit on my cheeks and applied to my lips all while walking at break neck speed and no mirror. When I managed to check my handiwork later in the day I was pleasantly surprised, the felt tip pen meant I had managed to nail the application.

Another positive about lip tints is that you never end up using too much; the nature of it means that you get a hue of colour. If you need more you just continue to build up but there is never a danger of you ending up looking like an extra from TOWIE.

Tints also manage to last for hours on end. If you had to measure them against lipsticks and glosses lip tints would win hands down every time.

This is a glowing review for both lip tints and in particular the new range by Maxfactor. These are definitely a handy little addition to any make up bag.

It doesn’t transfer when you eat drink or kiss.

Max Factor Lipfinity Lasting Lip Tint

The lip tint applicator is designed just like a felt tipped pen – and works in the same way too! The pen style easy applicator allows simple, yet accurate application by tracing the outer line of the lips and colouring the fleshy areas with the flat side, giving you total control of your look.

My favourite shades from the Max Factor Lipfinity range

Lipfinity Lip Tint will stay on for 2-3 hours without the need for reapplication. My favourite shades are definitely pink princess and royal plum which look great on my dark skin.

Each colour is lovely and comes in ten different shades, all using water-based formula so it doesn’t transfer. The best part is unlike some gloopy pot lip tints, you can apply straight to the lip without the mess and a lot more hygienic too. This is a great addition to your makeup bag!

ITV’s breakfast popular show Lorraine, has been on the search for the UK’s most naturally beautiful people – and over 8045 people entered the Lorraine:naked competition! Judged by model scout and casting director Jody Furlong, Superdrug’s senior skincare buyer Joanna Hutton and voted for by viewers the two winners, who will be revealed live on Tuesday’s show, will champion natural beauty – both inside and out!

What the judges were looking for in our finalists

The panel had selected six confident finalists (three from the 18-40 age category and three from age 41 and above) and invited viewers to vote for their favourite in each category. The finalists all have good personalities and are 100% natural – so no make-up, no botox and definitely no cosmetic surgery. They’re not saying make-up is a bad thing, but they encouraged the natural look. They wanted people to be proud of their natural features without the need to enhance them. This is all about the face so height and size didn’t matter.

The prize

The prize is an all expenses trip to a modelling shoot in London, to appear on posters in Superdrug stores across the country. As well as featuring in the one and only DARE magazine! So don’t forget to pick up the May/June issue to read the full feature on the winners, plus behind the scenes gossip and photos!

The winner will be revealed on Tuesday!

Who would have got your vote?

This review was a bit of a challenge for me, as my nails are a disaster (I am a nail biter >.<) It was my aim to grow my nails especially for this challenge- but I have no willpower!

So I had to rope in my sister, who had just finished painting a table, in to being my hand model. So please excuse any black paint you can see, and a lack of photos!

Bright, colourful nails are hugely popular at the moment- seen on all celebrities, from ‘kooky’ ones like Katy Perry to cool ones like Yasmin:

Yasmin: Image taken from Glam.co.uk

NYC have developed an amazingly affordable nail varnish which is slick, glossy and dries in less than 60 seconds! I tried orange (Spring Street 221), yellow (Lexington Yellow 294), green (High Line Green 298) and blue (Wild Street Blue 296) which are all bold, bright, neon colours.

The colours are brilliant- vivid and vibrant! The nail varnish dries in an instant, and although it is a little bit runny, it is easy to use.

You can create amazing looks with these- my sister had a great idea to create a noughts and crosses game, with a move on each nail. As I said before, please excuse the grubby hands (thank you, Amy!)

These varnishes don’t just come in neon colours- there is a whole palette including neutral every day shades! They cost just £1.79 in Superdrug at the moment, and are absolutely amazing quality for the price!!!

I LOVE nail varnish, I cannot get enough of it, different brands, different colours, from neons to pastels, matte to glitter, I am always excited to try out something new. So I was delighted when NYC sent us their latest Bright and Loud Collection colours to try out. I have quite a few NYC colours already as I love the formula, the amount of product you get and the consistency. They go on really well and last ages, not only that but they dry really quickly too- perfect! These latest shades are so eye-catching and perfect for heading into spring time.

Now I am useless at nail art but with these exciting colours I wanted to have a play around and see some different ways of wearing them…

The colours I used are 29 Water Street Blue, 294 Lexington Yellow, 298 High Line Green, 224 Times Square and 221 Spring Street and I picked up some paper hole reinforcers to try out the half-moon manicure, the ball end of a Kirby grip for experimenting with dots, an old eyeshadow applicator sponge for dabbing on layers of colours and a marker pen or black liquid to try out designs.

They aren’t the best examples in the world but I had so much fun trying them out, and the tools I used are all really easy to pick up items, that you might already have lying around in the house. The effects you can create with them are really fun and bright and get lots of compliments! At only £1.79 a polish, the world is your oyster with designs and colour combinations so let your imagination run wild!

I for one am rather glad to see that colourful nails are still to be the way forward in fashion come this Spring/ Summer 2012. The ladies, it appears, are not tired of vibrant, statement nails and to that end NYC have come out with a range of brightly coloured nail polishes.

Superdrug challenged us to create nail designs with some of these polishes and in the picture you can see my little creative masterpieces on my nails; I had a go at creating a marble effect.

If you want to have a go yourself, here are the steps:

Step 1

Fill a small bowl with warm water.

Step 2

Select two nail colours which you feel will compliment each other.

Drop 3-4 drops of your chosen base colour into the water. You will notice that the nail polish forms a sort of skin on the surface of the water.

Then drop 1-2 drops of your chosen highlight colour into middle of your base colour.

Step 3

With a safety pin/ tooth pick swirl the highlight colour around and mix in gently with the base colour to create a marble effect.

Step 4

Dip your finger underneath the skin of marble nail polish you have created and swoop up the marble effect to cover you nail.

The nail polish will cover your finger in the process but don’t worry about that for now.

Step 5

Wait for the polish to dry completely.

Then remove the excess nail colour from the rest of your finger and voila!

Marble effect nail polish!

After Superdrug introduced me to NYC, the brand is fast becoming one of my favourites; the quality and price point have impressed me and bought my loyalty. For almost 10 ml the cost comes in at £1.79 which is a bargain.

The polish goes on smoothly and is, as promised on the packaging, very fast drying.

I highly recommend you check out these polishes and in fact any of the NYC brand if you’re looking for fast, easy, cheap make up which doesn’t compromise on quality.
