Now when I first received this foundation I laughed, I am not sure why but I think the look of it was just really unusual, I have never seen a foundation with a sponge like this attached. I suppose this works well in its favour as it certainly sets it aside from the others and makes you want to play around with it and try it out. I’m sorry I laughed at you The Eraser, all is forgiven!
Maybelline’s Eraser foundation has a patented applicator and a concentrated formula enriched with collagen and goji berries to erase the look of dark circles, fine lines and imperfections for ultimate flawless perfection!
After first being mesmerised by how this applies and working my way through the clicking motion needed to get product out, I was fascinated by how smooth it glided on. This probably is thanks to the innovative foam applicator Maybelline have used. This works by the foundation being passed through the hundreds of small fibres so the product gets into every nook and cranny on the skin, or wrinkle and line if you would rather! This is where an issue with this product lies, to me the concern is the hygiene issue of products with their applicator attached, it means you can’t really give it a good clean, meaning you are then spreading germs from some time ago continually all round your face. For people being with spot prone or congested skin like me I know anything that could make it worse is a worry.
So in the name of research I set about seeing how hard it would be to take The Eraser apart and I can happily say I have put that worry to rest, with a gentle tug you can remove the sponge from its casing and then give it a wash or just get the product from the nozzle. To put it back in I just used a Kirby grip to tuck the base of the sponge back inside and voila back to normal use. I am not suggesting you have to do this, but for anyone with a similar fear now you know you can keep the applicator clean.
Initial worries aside, it hadn’t stopped me using it as I find the experience of it gliding over my skin and watching it covering my flawed skin fascinating and a joy to use. On initial back of the hand swatching I was concerned this could be hard to test as the colour was too orangey for me, slightly darker than my face and with too much yellow tone in it, but I am really glad I persevered. I found that when applied to the skin this shade really adapted to my own and it was totally wearable. The Eraser applies the formula well and I find the finish on my bare skin is really smooth and looks polished, it gives a good buildable coverage that still feels weightless on the skin. The formula doesn’t take long to dry and on my oily combination skin and leaves me with a lovely even matte finish. It is not too matte however, it doesn’t leave my skin looking really flat or dry one, so I do think this could suit most skin types. With the moist consistency being loaded with Goji Berry and SPF 18 It gives your skin a really lovely boost.
This is a really welcome foundation to my routine, I love the look and feel of it and definitely recommend you give it a whirl what ever your age or skin type.
